Piper Piranhas Swim Team

We are a non-profit, registration-based and volunteer-supported recreational swim team competing in the East Kansas League, open to swimmers of all calibers, who participate in practices and meets during the month of June. Our focus is on stroke-mechanics, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

We're looking for 2024 Sponsors!

THANK YOU to our first sponsors of the season:

* Marjolyn & Dan Todd

*John Tiszka

*Michael & Shelly Essary

Details:

We practice Monday-Thursday mornings at Savior Pastoral Center Pool and have meets on Friday mornings at various locations around the league. Other teams in the league include: Bonner Springs/Lake of the Forest, Desoto, Leavenworth, Tonganoxie, Eudora, Lansing, Lake Quivira, Gardner, Olathe, and Miami.

Requirements:

* Swimmers should be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance to participate. Swimmers will be learning competitive strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

* Each family is expected to volunteer in some capacity at each meet.

Behavior & Expectations:

We strive to provide a safe and fun environment for all team members; therefore, we expect safe, responsible behavior from every swim team member both at practices and meets. Swimmers exhibiting any behavior at practices and/or meets not consistent with the rules and regulations of the league will have the following consequences:

1st Offense- Verbal warning
2nd Offense- Time out of pool
3rd Offense- Parent contact
4th Offense- Removal from practice/meet

Inclement Weather:
Practices: The pool at Savior Pastoral Center is not grounded, therefore, we utilize a lightning tracker to determine if it is safe to host in-pool practice. In the event that lightning prevents use of the pool, we will default to 'dry land' practice, which includes stretching, stroke technique practice, and general conditioning.  Managers will let parents know as soon as possible about alterations to practices and/or cancellations. Please look for updates via Facebook post or email.

Meets: Cancellation of a meet due to weather shall be decided upon by meet location pool management (not our coaches/managers) and will be communicated via Facebook post/email as soon as possible. In the event of a weather delay, meets will start no later than 10 am and competing team coaches have the discretion to eliminate events due to time constraints.
